Dubai Internet City

Internet City is close enough to make the trip twice.

Dubai Internet City sits a few kilometres up Al Sufouh Road from The Marina Torch, on the same side of Sheikh Zayed Road as we are. This page is about what that short distance actually buys you, because it is not the free collection you were probably hoping for.

DUBAI MEDIA CITY painted across a wall behind a turquoise lagoon and palms, a tall blue tower rising behind it.

Ask about collection

This is outside the free Dubai Marina, JBR and JLT collection area, and we are not going to imply otherwise. Message us with where you actually are and we will tell you what can be arranged and what it would involve, before you plan around it.

Getting to the bench

Distance
Roughly three to four kilometres along Al Sufouh Road, the shortest hop of any area on this list.
By car
Usually under ten minutes. There is no Sheikh Zayed Road crossing in it, so local traffic at the Marina end decides the time, not the highway.
By tram
The tram runs along Al Sufouh from the Media City and Knowledge Park side into the Marina. Check a stop is walkable from your building first.
By metro
There is a Red Line station named after the district, though over this distance a taxi usually beats the walk at both ends.
Collection
We collect from Internet City. A short hop, but still past where the no-charge zone ends, so a small fee applies. Give us the building name and it comes straight back.

Measured from

  • Dubai Media CityThe district immediately next door; the boundary between the two means nothing to us. Give us a building name.
  • Dubai Knowledge ParkThe campus end of the strip, the bearing you are likely to have if you are a student here rather than in an office.
  • Al Sufouh RoadThe road between you and the Marina. It is the route, and the reason the trip never touches Sheikh Zayed Road.
  • Barsha Heights (TECOM)Inland, across Sheikh Zayed Road. People mix the two up constantly; if you are really there, that trip has a crossing in it and this one does not.

A trip short enough to leave the device.

A proper diagnosis takes the device away from you for a while. Board-level faults, a phone that will not charge from any cable, a laptop that cuts out under load. Are traced before they are quoted. From most of Dubai that means committing an evening to it, or taking the fast fix somebody promises instead. From Internet City it is a drive that fits inside a lunch break.

So the shape from here is two short trips rather than one long one. Send the model and the fault before you leave your desk, so you know whether the part is in the drawer. Drop it in, get the price before anything is opened, then come back for it. The second trip is a coffee-run, not an expedition.

What people ask from here

Can I drop something off on a lunch break?

One of the few areas where that is realistic, under ten minutes each way. Send the model and the fault first, though: screen and battery work is often same-day, while board-level work has to be traced before it can be quoted. Better to know which before you spend the hour.

Do you collect from Internet City?

Free collection covers Dubai Marina, JBR and JLT only, and Internet City is not in it. We are not blurring that for the sake of a nicer sentence. Ask anyway with your building name and we will say what can be arranged. Given the short drive, plenty of people here decide it is not worth arranging.

I am only in Internet City on working days. Does that hold things up?

It does not have to. The shop is open every day, 10:00 to 23:00, so collecting never has to line up with your office days. Coming to the Marina is its own trip, not part of your commute. Tell us when you can realistically come back.
