Getting to the bench
- Distance
- Roughly seven to nine kilometres to The Marina Torch, the far clusters are a different starting point from the ones facing the mall.
- By car
- Fifteen to twenty-five minutes heading north-east, most of it on Sheikh Zayed Road. The slow part is usually getting out of your own cluster, not the highway.
- By metro
- Ibn Battuta has a Red Line station, and a newer station serves the Discovery Gardens and Al Furjan side. Either is a few stops towards the Marina, then a short walk or taxi at the Torch end.
- Parking
- Parking around the Torch is tighter than what you have at home, and worst in the evening. Message before you set off rather than circling Al Sharta Street.
- Collection
- We collect from Discovery Gardens. This one is paid rather than complimentary. Send your cluster and building number and we will tell you exactly what it comes to.

- Ibn Battuta MallThe bearing almost everyone from here gives. We are the other way from it, north-east up Sheikh Zayed Road.
- The Mediterranean, Mogul, Zen, Contemporary, Cactus and Mesoamerican clustersAddressing here is the cluster name plus a building number, and a building number alone does not locate you. Give us both.
- Al FurjanThe community immediately inland. If that is your side, saying so is the quickest way to tell us which end of Discovery Gardens you mean.
- Jebel AliFurther south-west again. If the signs are counting you towards Abu Dhabi, you have turned the wrong way for the Torch.
Repair or replace is a real question here.
Discovery Gardens is long-term residents and families, and plenty of the handsets that arrive from here are three or four years old and expected to last longer still. So the question is not simply whether it can be fixed, but whether anything should be spent on this device at all. Send the model, roughly how old it is, and what it is actually doing.
