Dubai South (Dubai World Central)

From Dubai South, the trip has to earn itself.

Dubai South sits at the far south-west corner of the city, roughly thirty to thirty-five kilometres from the bench at The Marina Torch. It is the longest journey of any area we list, so this page says plainly when it is worth making.

Getting to the bench

Distance
Roughly thirty to thirty-five kilometres by road, further out than anywhere else we write about.
By car
About half an hour if the coast road is behaving, and noticeably more around the start and end of shifts.
By metro
The Red Line branch built for Expo 2020 reaches this far out. Coming back in you change where it meets the main line, then a short taxi at the Marina end.
Parking
The streets around the Torch are paid parking and busiest in the evening; arriving earlier in the day saves you circling.
Collection
We collect from Dubai South. It is the furthest address on this page by a long way, so the drive costs more than anywhere else listed. Ask before you count on it.

Measured from

  • Expo City DubaiThe bearing nearly everyone out here shares, and where the metro branch ends.
  • Al Maktoum International AirportIf the airport sets your shift pattern, say so when you message. The counter runs to 23:00.
  • Emaar SouthOne of the newer residential pockets out this way. "Dubai South" alone covers a lot of ground, give us the community and the building.
  • Jebel AliRoughly the halfway marker on the drive in, and where the Expo metro branch rejoins the main line.

Come for the repairs that get handed back.

For a cracked screen or a tired battery, driving in from Dubai South is hard to justify; there will be somewhere nearer that can do it. The distance makes sense for the faults people get turned away with: liquid damage, a phone that will not power on or take a charge, a laptop that boots and dies, photos sitting on a board someone told you to write off. Not every counter takes that work on.

So make one trip do more than one job. Send the model and the fault, and have the diagnosis and a number agreed before you leave Dubai South. Board work has to be opened and traced before anyone can price it, so it is not a stand-and-wait repair. If someone you live or work with has been carrying a dead handset for months, this is the run to bring it on.

What people ask from here

Is it worth driving in from Dubai South?

For a cracked screen or a battery, probably not. You can get that done closer to home, and we would rather say so than have you drive an hour each way. What earns the trip is board-level work: liquid damage, no power, a device that will not charge, or one somebody has already told you to replace.

Do you collect from Dubai South?

Not under the free service, which covers Dubai Marina, JBR and JLT only. And of everywhere we list, you are furthest from it. Ask anyway: send the community and the building and we will say what could be arranged and what it would involve. Until that is confirmed, plan on bringing the device in yourself.

Can I bring two or three devices in one trip?

Yes, and from this far out it is the sensible way to do it. List the models and faults in one message first, so the parts question is settled for all of them at once rather than device by device at the counter. We are open daily from 10:00 to 23:00, which leaves room either side of a shift.
